ARC Review: The Randy Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn

My Rating:
Sultry Scale:

I don't read a lot of romantic comedies, but when I do, none can make me donkey laugh quite like Meghan Quinn.  The Virgin Romance Novelist was one of my 5-Star Reads for 2015, so I was super excited to see what Rosie was going to get up to next. I'm happy to report that Rosie was just as ridiculous and over-the-top in this installment as she was as our virginal disaster. I do recommend that you read The Virgin Romance Novelist (if you have not done so) to get the full back story between Rosie and Henry.

Rosie and Henry have turned their long friendship into a romantic relationship whereby Henry punched Rosie's V-Card and they lived happily wackily ever after. The Randy Romance Novelist is what happens after the HEA when our H/h are learning how to adult, and our heroine has become a crazy nympho sex fiend. Rosie is still battling Sir Licks a Lot and trying to write her romance novel while planning a penis-infused bachelorette party for her best bud, Delaney. Henry is dealing with issues at work, one of which is his catty ex-girlfriend who has come in to steal his job. All of these things put a strain on their relationship, and our couple is not made up of the best communicators. So there are wackadoodle freakouts, incorrect assumptions, and a huge life-changing event that no one expected.

While I didn't love this one quite as much as The Virgin Romance Novelist, it was still a solid 4 Stars with plenty of laugh out loud moments to make people look at you sideways if you dare to read this one in public. There are penises flying at faces, a hilarious awkward moment involving the chin farting situation, and a reappearance of Squirrel D*ck. A catty ex trying to sabotage Henry's love life and career adds a good bit of drama, and there are some cameos from some of our other favorite rom-com authors (::Cough:: Tara Sivec ::Cough::) and even a shout out to The Backdoor Comedy Club.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was bummed that I missed Meghan Quinn at the RT Convention last week. I was looking forward to getting her signature and boob squeezes... but I lost my phone during the signing and spent an hour recovering it, so I missed several names from my author short list. Hopefully I can stalk her down somewhere this year or next.

About the Author

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
